AREA OVERNIGHT FULL FREEWAY CLOSURES - Watch WisDOT Signs for All Overnight Full Freeway Closures

• I-41 EB @ Burleigh on Thu 9/3 and Tue 9/8

MAJOR CONSTRUCTION ALERT: I-94 East-West Corridor (2025-2033 + 2?)

• Backups expected; add travel time; take alternate routes (see below)
• WATCH FOR WisDOT UPDATED SIGNAGE & CHECK THE QR CODE BELOW

       CLOSURES

• Long-term right lane closures I-94 Eastbound and Westbound 
  • Through late 2026
    • Long-term lane closure of I-94 eastbound between 70th Street and General Mitchell Boulevard, reducing traffic to two lanes to facilitate the reconstruction of the I-94 eastbound lanes in the cemetery section.

CLOSE CALLS OBSERVED - Please stay off phones & cross streets safely:

• Cross only at crosswalks using the pedestrian signals
• Do not cross against the signal. (Increasingly observed are people crossing despite oncoming traffic.)
• PUSH the pedestrian signal button, WAIT for the walk signal, OBSERVE that traffic has stopped, then CROSS the street
• Continue to look in both directions as you cross the street

PUBLIC TRANSIT CHANGES (effective January 12, 2026, Waukesha Metro 1 Route)
  

87th Street

•  MCW Student Housing (Construction has begun.)

  • PARTIAL LANE CLOSURE FOR DURATION OF CONSTRUCTION PROJECT: The center lane of Watertown Plank Rd. eastbound starting at the intersection of 87^th St. and WTP just past the north entrance of the MCW parking lot has been closed.  ​Diversion signs direct traffic to use north or south eastbound lanes.  MCW Communications has sent out information to employees.
    

  • The Westside Parking Lot (92^nd & Watertown Plank Rd) is secured and only those with an MCW ID will be allowed in.
  • The north entrance off of Watertown Plank Rd to the parking lot/structure opened on Monday, June 29 allowing parking entrance in the X-56 West Lot, the Parking Structure or cutting through the Parking Structure to get to the X-70 Parking Lot.
  • Signage will be deployed to indicate when lots are near capacity and will display a QR code with directions to Lot C (north of the WAC) and the Westside Lot (92^nd & WTP).
    

​Versiti Blood Center (Watertown Plank & 87th).  Watch for increased construction traffic.​

92nd Street

• Watch for posted guidance signs & use 87th Street or 95th Street as alternate routes.

          92nd St - Road & Lane Closures

• April - November 2026:
  • 92^nd Street is reduced to one lane in each direction for the remainder of the year while 92^nd Street is re-constructed. Traffic has been switched to the east side of 92^nd Street. Access to Children’s Corporate Center and Children’s staff parking structure is only accessible off Connell Avenue.
  • The sidewalk on the east side of 92^nd Street has been opened between Doyne and Connell with pedestrian access to Door 6 south of the BRT station and off Connell Avenue.   The sidewalk on the west side of 92^nd Street, including access to Children’s Corporate Center is closed.

        Froedtert Hospital Expansion - West Tower (Doyne & 92nd)

• ​Lane Shift: The northbound lane remains as is, the southbound lane is shifting to the center lane, and the sidewalk west of 92nd St is shifting to maintain a safe pedestrian path (see graphic below)

• Froedtert Hospital Main Entrance Circle Drive is closed
  • Non-emergency and non-critical patient transports should continue to use Door 6 off N. 92nd St.
  • Emergency and critical patients should continue to be transported to the Froedtert Hospital ambulance bay
  • Patient drop-off and pick-up has relocated to Level 2 inside Parking Structure 1
• Construction traffic & flaggers will be present between Connell Ave & Doyne Ave
  • Please proceed with caution and heed directions provided
• Sidewalk on the east side of 92nd St is closed between Doyne Ave and Froedtert Door 6
  • Please follow signs to cross to the west side of 92nd St at controlled intersections
• Northbound and southbound traffic remains open, but is limited to one lane in each direction between Connell Ave & Doyne Ave
  • East lanes have been absorbed into the Tower project boundary to support structure and utility buildout
• Parking Structure 1 access is limited to right turn in and right turn out only off 92nd St
  • 92nd St southbound access to Parking Structure 1 is barricaded/closed indefinitely
  • Exit from Parking Structure 1 onto 92nd St is right turn only
